Succession

£3,500

A will decides who inherits your Bitcoin. It does not give anyone the ability to open it. Those are different problems and only one of them has a solicitor.

Inheritance law settles entitlement. It does not settle access. An executor holding a perfectly valid grant and no key has a legal right to something nobody can reach. For a bank account there is a bank to write to, for shares a registrar, for a policy an insurer. For a private key there is nobody to write to at all.

The gap is not legal. It is engineering. A solicitor can name a beneficiary. They cannot design a signing quorum, establish whether a backup has ever been read back, or test whether a non-technical spouse can recover a wallet under pressure in the worst week of their life.

That gap is what this closes.

What happens

The custody map. Every holding, location, device and backup, and who can physically reach each one.

The quorum design. Deciding how many people or devices must approve a transaction, so that no single person can move the holding alone while legitimate recovery remains possible. Those two risks pull in opposite directions, which is why this needs designing rather than deciding.

Recovery instructions written for someone who is not technical. Plain language, no assumed vocabulary, no step that requires knowing what you know.

A recovery test, performed by the person who would actually have to do it, while you are still here to watch it fail and have it fixed. This is the part nothing else in the line produces and the part that justifies the price.

The access package — sealed, distributed, with a stated review date.

The brief for your solicitor — what exists, what it is not, what they must do and in what order.

Plus a family briefing session where there is a family.

It is not sold by the month

Succession has no duration. It is finished when the person who would have to recover the holding has done so — under the written instructions, without your help — and the quorum is in place, the access package is sealed and dated, and your solicitor has been briefed.

Who performs that recovery is agreed before the engagement begins.

Where your solicitor fits

Your solicitor drafts the will. Alderlux builds what makes it work.

Entitlement is their work and it is not in question. Access is the part nobody has been handling, and it is the part that decides whether the instrument they drafted can actually be carried out. This is the document they have been missing.

Pricing

One engagement, one number. The scope is agreed in writing before anything begins, and what would change it is set out rather than discovered later.

Who it is for

Anyone whose holding would outlive them, which is everyone who intends to hold.

The next step

A short call, at no cost. It establishes what you hold, what you want settled, and whether this is the right fit — including when it is not.
